Vivekananda Event
To uphold the achievements and services of Swami Vivekananda to Hindu society and the downtrodden, the legendary scientist's 150th birth anniversary was celebrated with most people dressed as Swami Vivekananda in the premises of Gurukulam School, Agalar, Thuneri, in the Nilgiris.
Environmental Initiatives
"Save the environment" is a popular slogan in the present world. Students of Gurukulam School were encouraged to plant trees. In order to save the world from the threat of global warming and climate change, every year tree-planting and other environmental programs are conducted in Gurukulam School, Agalar.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Tribute
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the outstanding President and scientist of this century, was given a warm welcome from the inception of this in 2007. The students have been showing extraordinary admiration towards Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. A painting of Dr. Abdul Kalam has been drawn on the top of the wall to honor the great man.
Subramanya Bharathiar's Birth Anniversary
The great poet Subramanya Bharathiar was not only a great poet but also a freedom fighter and social reformer. To honour this great poet on his birth anniversary, most of the students dressed in his entire turban and dhoti.
Vallalar's Legacy
Ramalinga Adigal, commonly known as Vallalar, is not only a saint but also a social reformer. He was against poverty and hunger. His image was printed on the school notebook to honour the selfless saint Vallalar.
Thiruvalluvar's Legacy
Thiruvalluvar, also known as Deivappura God poet, is a great poet of Tamil literature who lived before 2000 years. His work contains evergreen morals, statecraft, and family life. To acquire the skills, every month Gurukulam School conducts a life education program.
Library and Reading Habits
"Knowledge is strength," so to encourage reading habits, Gurukulam School has a library with valuable books.
Compassion and National Unity
To educate compassion on animals, Vegetarian Day was celebrated to bring national unity and fraternity.
Tiranga Yatra
Tiranga Yatra was adopted by Gurukulam School in 2022. A big procession of all the students of Gurukulam in 2022, where students were in uniform holding national flags, started from Trinity with national slogans and ended in Kothumudi. The procession was successful and also a memorable one in the history of Gurukulam School. The procession was led by Mr. Arjjunan, Correspondent of Gurukulam School.
Anti-Drug Awareness
Drugs are a major evil of society, especially as most of the youth's have lost their lives to this evil. To bring awareness among the students, often some important persons have visited Gurukulam School and addressed the ill effects of drugs.
International Yoga Day
To promote the importance of yoga and meditation, on June 21, 2019, International Yoga Day was celebrated at Anikorai. All the students meditated in the village and also performed yoga asanas. People from homi village attended the celebration and encouraged the students. The contribution of the teachers is worth mentioning.
